Let’s talk about health visitors. Love them or loathe them. You’ll either read those words and roll your eyes or you’ll be cursing me for calling them into question. It’s a minefield.
As if this parenting malarkey wasn’t challenging enough; there are some (not all) individuals who seem to function just to point out where we are going “wrong”. I totally understand there’s a rule book but as a teacher I also understand that individuals don’t tend to follow a book. What with them being individual and all.
Alfie has only ever rolled a handful of times. Apparently his lack of rolling and contentment to just sit are due to his weight. He’s a chunky boy but he’s always been chunky. He loves his milk. He eats some solids but no where near enough for me to be worrying about his “portion size.” I could probably cut out his doughnuts and chocolate but he just loves them. (I’m joking) He will move when he wants to move.
I stress that there are helpful health visitors and it is difficult for them to give advice when they only see a snapshot. However, that is all they see. A snapshot of your baby. So Mama don’t let the advice cloud your day. The fact you are questioning yourself tells me you’re a good mother. You know your baby and be confident in your judgement.
If your baby is thriving and happy then you’re winning in my book
